RING ROAD TOUR

Discover a variety of landscapes, very hilly and verdant with beautiful steppes and many chiefdoms. The ring road runs a circle around the grassfields, giving you one of Cameroon´s great scenic drives, past mountains dolloped with lakes, cattle loping into the hills, and one of the greatest concentration of kingdoms and chiefdom territories in Central Africa.

Day 1: Arrival in Yaoundé, welcome and transfer hotel, Dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Yaoundé - Bamenda

After breakfast, drive to Bamenda with stops on the way to visit several touristic attraction. Dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Bamenda - Bafut - Wum

Excursion to the Bafut Kingdom; visit the Bafut Royal Palace. Continuation to Wum with a visit on the way of the Mentchum waterfalls. In the evening, visit one of the local bars and join the people in drinking the locally brewed beer from corn or others. Dinner and Overnight.

Day 4: Wum - Lac Nyos.

Drive to Lac Nyos with stops on the way to chat with locals and understand the traditions, culture, and history of the area. Visit Lac Nyos and surrounding villages. Overnight stay.

Day 5: Lac Nyos - Misaje

Drive to Misaje with stops to visit attractions on the way. Visit the Kings Palace at Misaje and listen to the stories of their ancestral lineage, view the traditional art and craft of the kingdom. In the evening, visit a local bar and share a drink with people, Overnight stay.

Day 6: Misaje - Lake Oku - Babungo

Drive through Noni to the Lake Oku. Visit Mount Kilum Ijim, the second highest mountain of Cameroon with its incredible richness in wildlife and biodiversity. Enjoy the Oku Landscapes and visit the Lake Oku. Continue to Babungo and visit the palace museum. Meeting with the King of the village. Relaxation in the evening and overnight in Babungo Palace.

Day 7: Babungo - Bamenda - Yaoundé

Drive to Ndop and visit the Bamessing pottery. Drive from Ndop with an impressive view of the Sabga Hills. Continuation to Yaoundé and overnight.

Day 8: Yaoundé - Europe

In the morning, visit the city of Yaoundé and discover the natural museum. After lunch, stop at the handicraft center for some souvenirs before transfer to airport for return flight. End of tour.

THE CRATER LAKE OKU

ake Oku is a beautiful crater lake surrounded by lush forests. You can choose to either hike there and back or take a motorbike taxi there and hike the return part of the trip. Oku Forest is a nature reserved, set up by BirdLife International and there are many species to be found there, including the rare Bannerman’s turaco and a rare breed of frog which is endemic to the area. There are much other rare flora and fauna within the forest. Of course, there will also be the opportunity to swim in the lake.

The Oku area is home to settled Fulani people and you will pass through their lands on your walk. As well as the magnificent scenery and views, you will also have the opportunity to see a variety of crops which people are farming, including corn, cocoyams, and coffee.

Accessibility & Transport: Depending on how active you feel, you can either hike up to the lake and back or take a motorbike taxi there and walk back. The trek there is largely uphill from Belo and takes around 5 hours, by bike taxi the journey time is 1 – 1.5 hrs. Returning from the lake, the walk takes approximately 4 hours and takes you through the village of Anyajua.

LONG ITINERARY

Day 1: Arrival in Yaoundé, welcome and transfer to hotel Meumi Palace or similar. Dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Yaoundé- Bamenda

Day 3: Bamenda- Bafut- Wum

Drive to Lac Nyos, with stops on the way to chat with locals and understand the traditions, cultures and history of the area. Visit the lac Nyos and surrounding villages. Overnight at lac Nyos hotel.

Day 5: lac Nyos- Misaje

Drive to Misaje, with stops to visit attractions on the way. Visit the Kings palace at Misaje, and listen to the stories of their ancestral lineage, view the traditional art and craft of the kingdom. In the evening, visit a local bar and share a drink with the people. Diner in a local family and overnight in the village auberge.

Day 6: Misaje- lake Oku- Babungo
